Criminal charge filed against former Luck teacher

LUCK – A Luck school teacher who resigned in early December amidst an investigation by school officials in to “immoral conduct” has been formally charged by the Polk District Attorney’s Office with exposing a child to harmful descriptions, a Class 1 felony.

Vernon A Longhenry, 55, is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Monday, Feb. 26, before Judge Jeffrey Anderson.

Parents received notification via email and phone from the school district’s administration regarding a complaint against Longhenry that was filed with the school district in early December.

A special closed session meeting of the Luck School Board was held Dec. 7 and as school administration investigated the complaint, Longhenry resigned.

The school district reported the situation to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
