Six parked vehicles damaged when sleeping driver runs off road

BURNETT COUNTY – A rural Spooner man who admitted falling asleep while behind the wheel of his pickup truck, resulting in six parked vehicles being damaged, is facing several criminal charges.

Charles Antill, 58, may have been under the influence of medication, drugs and/or alcohol, according to a report by the Wisconsin State Patrol.  He was driving east on A on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 1, just before 8 p.m., when his truck crossed the centerline and entered the parking lot of the Crow Bar, striking and setting off a chain reaction among vehicles parked in front of the bar.  Antill’s vehicle and most of the other vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Possible charges listed in the report were operating while under the influence, operating left of center, failure to keep vehicle under control, inattentive driving and vehicle operator failure to wear seat belt. – Gary King
