The school aid graph in the Leader’s Jan. 31 paper showed a steep decline over the past several years in school dollars for small, rural districts like ours in northwestern Wisconsin.
With our economy steadily improving for nine consecutive years, it’s now time to restore funding to our schools.
The very wealthy were rewarded with huge, permanent tax cuts at the federal level. Charles Koch was so pleased that he rewarded Congressman Paul Ryan with a $500,000 donation. He and his brother David, Nos. 8 and 9 on Forbes richest list, have said they’ll spend $400 million in the 2018 election with Wisconsin as one of their target states.
Why? We have already seen our precious tax dollars used to entice a Chinese company to southeast Wisconsin. It’s time for our politicians to stop serving the wealthy at the expense of ordinary people.
