Webster boys improve to 10-0

Webster 74, Siren 59

SIREN – The Webster boys basketball team is 10-0 after a win over Siren on Tuesday, Jan. 9. The Tigers are still unbeaten this season and got big offensive performances from Jack Washburn, and Hunter Rosenbaum with 21, and 20 points respectively.

Trevor Gustafson had 12 points for the Tigers, and Hunter Gustafson and Austin Moser each had eight points, followed by Coleton Peterson with five.

Siren was led by Colton den Hoed with 21 points, Nathan Kosloski, 14, Kanaan Christianson, nine, Riley Churchhill, six, Jordan Webster, five, and Sequoia Bellanger, four.

Grantsburg 60, St. Croix Falls 20

FREDERIC – Grantsburg’s defense was on display during a win over the St. Croix Falls boys basketball team on Tuesday, Jan. 9, holding the Saints to just 10 points in the first half and a 33-10 lead.

“They packed it in on us and our guards stepped up and hit some shots to open up their zone a little,” said Pirates coach Nick Hallberg.

In the first half Joseph Ohnstad hit four 3-pointers and led the half with 14 points. Ohnstad and John Chenal both finished with 14 points. Trevor LaMirande had six points to lead St. Croix Falls.

Hallberg said it was the Pirates best defensive effort of the year so far and looks forward to play a talented McDonell Central team on Saturday, Jan. 13, at McDonell Central starting at 2:30 p.m.
