Luck 42, Frederic 38

FREDERIC – The Luck girls basketball team found a way to win against the Frederic Vikings on Tuesday, Jan. 9, in what Frederic coach Brady Robertson described as a hard-fought game. The game was tied 18-18 at halftime as both teams were balanced offensively.

Luck shot 11 of 16 from the free-throw line while Frederic was 2 for 9 from the line.

In the end the Cardinals were led by Grace Thoreson with with 13 points, followed by Katie Christenson, Kyla Melin and Brooklyn Petersen each with seven, Sophia Hendricks, Britta Hibbs, Elizabeth Johnson and McKenna Delany each scored two.

Frederic was led offensively by Kalyn Miller-Robertson with 14 points, Hannah Schmidt, seven, Casey Thaemert, six, Shelbi Root, five, Sydney Domagala, four, and Elaine Lahti, two.

St. Croix Falls 67. Grantsburg 40

GRANTSBURG – The Lady Saints took care of business against Grantsburg on Tuesday, Jan. 9, after a slow first half. Grantsburg trailed 20-18 in the first half but the Saints offense exploded in the second half with help from some shots from the perimeter from Annalise Parks, who had all of her 13 points in the second half, including three 3-pointers. Lucia Neuman also hit a pair from long range and had 10 points. Addie McCurdy led with 15 points, followed by Olivia Miron and Sidney Hoverman each with nine, Emily McCurdy, eight, Azalea Edwards, two, and Josey Kahl, one.

Olivia Brock had 11 points for Grantsburg and Brooke Quimby and Olivia Ohnstad each had nine points.
