Fire victim identified

Cause remains under investigation, not believed to be suspicious  

ST. CROIX FALLS – St. Croix Falls Police officials have now released the name of the person killed in a Dec. 29, 2017, blaze on the city’s north side.

According to police Chief Erin Murphy, the victim who perished in the blaze has now been positively identified as Allen McDaniels, 67, St. Croix Falls. 
Police and fire were called to the residence at 906 North Washington St. at 5:30 a.m that Friday morning, and found a fully engulfed house fire.
A subsequent search led to the the discovery of the remains of an adult male inside the home, later identified as McDaniels.
“An investigation is still underway on the cause of the fire,” Murphy stated. “It’s not believed to be suspicious, at this time.”
Details on a memorial service for McDaniels were pending at press time.
