SHELL LAKE – With a 53-45 win over Siren in a home game on Tuesday, Nov. 28, the Shell Lake Lakers improved their early season record to 1-1 in nonconference play. Shell Lake will play Clear Lake in their second Lakeland Central Conference game on Friday, Dec. 8, in Shell Lake.
Shell Lake took an early lead over Siren and held that lead throughout the game. The Lakers outscored the Dragons 29-20 in the first half and held on as Siren came back in the
second half. Grace Anderson was the top scorer for Shell Lake with 17 points. Anna Mikula and Cassie Skattebo each had seven points for the game. Ashlea Meister had six assists, two blocks and 10 rebounds for the game. Meredith Kevan had six assists for the game from her point guard position.
The win for Shell Lake is a big morale booster for the Laker team as Siren has a very good girls basketball program. This is the second year that Shell Lake has beaten Siren under coach Jim DeLadi and marks a turning point for the Shell Lake girls basketball program.
