RICE LAKE— The Barron County Sheriff reports Curtis Strand, 31, Haugen, has been arrested for first-degree reckless homicide after a four month investigation into the death of his three-month old child.
The Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call Sunday, July 9, at 5:29 a.m., reporting a three-month old child was not breathing. The child was flown by air ambulance to Marshfield Medical Center where the baby was pronounced deceased July 11 at 10 p.m.
Chris Fitzgerald, Barron County Sheriff, reports the four-month investigation into the case consisted of interviews and confirming autopsy results which lead to Strand’s arrest.
Strand is currently being held in the Barron County Jail awaiting formal charges by the Barron County district attorney’s Office.
The case remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department and the Barron County medical examiner’s office.
