The Unity School District will be holding their Veterans Day program on Friday, Nov. 10, 10:30 a.m. The speaker will be Rick Osborn and colors will be presented. The choir and band will be performing during the program.
The Veterans Day program will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, at 10:15 a.m., in the Frederic 6-12 School performance center. The 45- to 60-minute program will feature an address by Chris Kuechenmeister. His special presentation will be on his experience with the National Guard and hurricane relief. The program is a tribute to our American history and to our veterans. Since 2013, the Veterans Day tribute/program has been planned and orchestrated by the administration, faculty and students of Frederic High School. The 2017 Badger State representative, Trent Kuechenmeister, will emcee the program, which includes tributes from high school Principal Erin Hansford, presentation of the colors by the Boy Scouts and veterans and performances from the Frederic High School choir and band. Following the program, veterans are invited to stay for school lunch. If veterans plan to join the students and Legion members for lunch, they should call 715-327-4646 by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 8, as reservations are important. All veterans should gather in the school commons area at 10 a.m. The Frederic Boy Scouts will lead the veterans to the seating area for the presentation of the colors.
On Friday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m., Grantsburg will be holding their annual Veterans Day program in the high school gym. Community members and all school district students are invited to join in honoring veterans. The speaker will be Col. Shane Smith. He is a 1977 graduate of Grantsburg High School. After the program, veterans and community members are invited to the commons for some refreshments. Please view the high school’s newly remodeled Wall of Honor. The Wall of Honor is for Grantsburg’s local servicemen and servicewomen who are currently serving in the armed forces, including the reserves. Also presented is a memorial to our fallen 2007 GHS graduate, U.S. Marine Sgt. Carson Holmquist. Please inform the school office if there is a local serviceperson that should be added to the Wall of Honor and also when enlistment is complete.
The Luck School will be holding their Veterans Day program on Friday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. in the gym. The band and choir will be performing patriotic selections. The Student Council and National Honor Society of Luck Schools would like to invite community members into school for a meet and greet starting at 9 a.m. This will take place in the school common area, where they will be serving refreshments and treats.
The Veterans Day dinner and program will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at VFW United Post 6856, Milltown, one mile north of Unity School on Hwy. 46. Dinner at 5 p.m. Program at 6:30 p.m. followed by fireworks.
The Veterans Day program will be at Osceola Middle School on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m., in the gym. Area veterans and the general public are welcome. Veterans are invited to arrive at 9:30 a.m. for complimentary donuts and coffee. Colors will be presented by the Dresser VFW. The program will include a slide show, student speakers and the choir and band will be performing several selections.
The Veterans Day program will be held at Siren High School on Monday, Nov. 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium. The band and choir will be performing. The American Legion will present the colors. A special presentation with Dave Daley, currently deployed, whose wife is a teacher in Siren, is scheduled. The Siren Telephone Company is sponsoring a “take a veteran to school” promotion in cooperation with the history channel.
St. Croix Falls
The annual Veterans Day program will be held in the St. Croix Falls High School gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 10, at 9:30 a.m. Colors will be presented by St. Croix Falls American Legion Post 143. The band and choir will be performing patriotic numbers. Following the program, there will be a reception for veterans in the media center. All are welcome to attend this ceremony honoring those who have served our country.
Moe-Miller American Legion Post 12 of Spooner will host a program Friday, Nov. 10, at 10:15 a.m., in the Spooner High School gymnasium. Colors provided by the Spooner Honor Guard. Spooner High School choir and band students will provide music. All veterans and families are invited to the multipurpose room for light refreshments and snacks following the presentation.
The Webster Veterans Day middle school program will begin at 9 a.m., and the high school program will begin at 9:45 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 10, at the high school. The American Legion Otis Taylor Post 96 will attend and the band and choir will perform.
On Saturday, Nov. 11, the Otis Taylor American Legion Post 96 – Webster will honor those who have served and are currently serving our nation with a Veterans Day Dinner for veterans/active duty/reserves and their families at the Webster Community Center, 7421 W. Main St., Webster. Social hour will begin at 4 p.m., dinner, 5 p.m.
The Yellow Lake annual Veterans Day parade will be Saturday, Nov. 11, at noon. Meet at the Gandy Dancer Saloon and either walk or ride to Yellow Lake Lutheran Church, the Tenth Hole, Ike Waltons, Yellow Lake Lodge and Sweeny’s. Spectators are encouraged to attend, to show their support to our veterans and troops. – Submitted
