Hayward man sentenced to prison for 2016 vehicle theft

SHELL LAKE – David Boswell, 27, Hayward, was sentenced to prison for the 2016 vehicle theft from the Washburn County Courthouse parking lot, according to court records.

The theft occurred in September 2016 when Boswell was released from the Washburn County Jail and he drove off with a vehicle that was parked by the courthouse. Boswell drove into Sawyer County where law enforcement engaged in a high-speed chase.

On July 6, Boswell pleaded guilty to a Class H felony charge of take and drive vehicle without consent. On Sept. 25, Boswell was sentenced to two years, six months, in state prison followed by two years, six months, extended supervision.

Boswell also had his driver’s license revoked, was ordered to pay restitution and was credited 195 days for time already served.
