Several charges for Spooner man in third OWI offense

SHELL LAKE – A 27-year-old Spooner man has pleaded not guilty in Washburn County Court to a felony charge of possession of meth and five misdemeanor charges from suspected driving under the influence of an illegal substance in the city of Spooner.

Joshua E. Wallace, 27, Spooner, faces a maximum penalty not to exceed $10,000 or imprisonment not to exceed three years and six months, or both, for the charge of possession of meth.

Wallace was arrested and charged with these offenses after he was observed by law enforcement driving in the city of Spooner when it was known to law enforcement that his driving status is revoked. While conducting the traffic stop, the officer observed Wallace displaying physical signs of drug use. A K-9 search was conducted on the vehicle, which found two baggies with residue inside that tested positive for meth.

Wallace is also charged with five misdemeanor offenses: OWI, third offense; operating with restricted controlled substance, third offense; ignition interlock device tampering/failure to install; operating while revoked; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Each misdemeanor charge’s maximum penalty is a fine not more than $500 or imprisonment not more than 30 days, or both.
