SHELL LAKE – Washburn County Court records show Joshua Englund, 32, Spooner, has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of possession of narcotic drugs.

Englund was charged with the offenses and arrested on July 3 when law enforcement came to his residence looking for Andrew Mortensen and Andrew Otten on warrants. Englund allowed law enforcement to search his residence for Mortensen and Otten.

In their search officers observed needles, other drug paraphernalia and a substance they suspected was heroin. Englund was then arrested for possession of heroin. Later, Englund told law enforcement the substance they saw was oxycodone, not heroin.

The maximum penalty for possession of narcotic drugs, a class I felony, is a fine not to exceed $10,000 or imprisonment not to exceed three years and six months, or both.
