Saints seven girls, three boys return from state

St. Croix Falls senior Tyler Henk had a record-breaking year that ended with a trip to state in the pole vault.

LA CROSSE – The Saints girls relay teams and three boys state qualifiers finished out the track season at the Division 2 state track meet in La Crosse on Friday and Saturday, June 2-3.

For the girls relay teams, the 4×200-meter relay made it to the finals race and just missed a spot on the podium, taking seventh place with a time of 1 minute, 47.03 seconds. The team featured freshman Riley Henk, juniors Alaina Driscoll and Grace Klein, and senior Ruthie Stewart.

Henk, Driscoll, Klein and Stewart also competed in the 4×100-meter relay at state but ended up in 13th place in the preliminary race, missing a chance in the finals.

Sophomore Anna Klein, junior Addie McCurdy, Stewart and Grace Klein earned a spot in the finals race in the 4×400-meter relay, and ended up eighth overall in the final with a time of 4:04.88.

Among the Saints boys, senior Tyler Henk competed in the pole vault and took eighth overall with a height of 13 feet. Henk had a memorable season, setting a new school record, as well as a conference record, with a vault of 13-08.

Saints freshman Sebastian Austad competed for the first time in the discus at state, taking 17th overall with a throw of 123-02.

Senior Roderick Hoggatt ended up placing 14th overall in the boys triple jump, with a distance of 41-08.25.
