Eau Claire woman charged with theft from grandmother

SHELL LAKE – A 43-year-old Eau Claire woman faces a $120,000 fine and/or 72 years in prison on 12 charges of theft from her grandmother, according to Washburn County Court records.

Jennifer Ludvigson is charged with 12 counts of theft – business setting after an investigation into her handling of her grandmother’s finances. According to the probable cause statement, in May 2014, guardianship papers were filed in Washburn County Court making Ludvigson guardian of the person and estate for her grandmother due to a medical condition.Â

An investigation into Ludvigson’s handling of her grandmother’s finances showed numerous charges from the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake. Each count of theft represents a bank transaction at the casino, which took place in 2014 and 2015. Ludvigson pleaded not guilty to the charges in September 2016.
